Lacey Youth Football & Cheer (LYFC) has proudly served the youth of Lacey Township for over 50 years. Originally established in 1972 as Lacey Pop Warner (incorporated in 1982), our program transitioned to American Youth Football & Cheer (AYF/ AYC) in 2011. This move was part of a broader effort by the Shore Conference of youth football programs to provide enhanced opportunities and flexibility for our athletes and their families.
Today, LYFC continues its mission to foster the athletic, social, and personal growth of the young athletes in our community. With a focus on safety, inclusivity, and sportsmanship, we offer a welcoming environment for children to learn, compete, and thrive.
Why American Youth Football & Cheer? Our transition to AYF brought significant benefits to the program, including:
• Age and Weight Flexibility: AYF provides divisions based on age, as opposed to our Pop Warner’s traditional weight-based grouping, allowing players of all sizes to participate safely and competitively – better preparing them for the next level of competition.
• Focus on Safety: AYF prioritizes up-to-date concussion protocols and offers extensive training for coaches to ensure the highest safety standards.
• Local Autonomy: Unlike our Pop Warner, AYF allows for more flexibility and decision-making at the local league level, compared to Pop Warner’s national structure; allowing LYFC to design our programs and make decisions that are best for Lacey.
• Affordability and Support: AYF’s streamlined organizational structure reduces costs, ensuring families receive great value while maintaining high-quality programming. With more than a decade of experience under AYF, we are proud to continue offering a program that reflects the values of teamwork, dedication, and community spirit.
